The concepts of Friend and Enemy in Azerbaijani and English

Since the beginning of the formation of society, the concepts of
friend and enemy have existed in human thought. Friendship is a moral
value. The concepts of friend and enemy, considered essential for life, are
present in almost all world languages. These concepts are characterised
by their multiple components and cultural connections. The difference
and concreteness of the concepts of friend and foe complement each other,
and their meaning is fully and adequately explained in different languages.
The use of concepts in any language is determined by external factors.
Although they belong to different language families, this article analyses
the concepts of friend and foe on the basis of the language materials of
English and Azerbaijan Turkish and tries to highlight the similarities
and differences in both languages. The perception of friend and foe in
Azerbaijan Turkish and English and the peculiarities of these concepts and
their functioning in the dictionaries, proverbs, examples of folk literature
of both languages were examined and their classification and analysis
were tried to be carried out.
