This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the current
status of the Uzbek language as one of the major Turkic languages spoken by over fifty million people worldwide, focusing on its situation in
Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, as well as pressing issues in these two regions
that require resolution. Initially, the historical development of the Uzbek
language in Uzbekistan up to the period of independence is examined,
with particular attention to the phonetic, lexical, and partially
grammatical inconsistencies that emerged under the influence of the
Russian language in previous periods and their impact on the development
of the contemporary literary language.
The article also explores the linguistic situation of Uzbeks living
in Afghanistan, analyzing problems related to language policy that have
arisen due to the lack of official status of the Uzbek language there. It
examines the social and cultural role of the language among Afghan
Uzbeks, the level of its usage, and the factors hindering its development
according to literary norms, while highlighting existing opportunities
from a scien-tific and theoretical perspective.
Finally, the article outlines the prospects for the formation,
popularization, and sustainable development of the literary Uzbek
language in Afghanistan and presents concrete proposals and
recommendations for measures that should be undertaken in this regard
